This week Ynys Môn MP Albert Owen hosted an event in behalf of Smart Energy GB and National Energy Action, aimed at promoting the smart meter roll out, and keeping homes warm this winter.
"I’m glad to host these organisations in Parliament, as it gives other MPs a great opportunity to find out more about smart metering, the roll out and how they can benefit their constituents in several ways.
“Smart meters allow you to see your energy usage in pounds and pence in real-time, as well as making it easier to switch providers to get the best rate possible.
“This avoids estimated bills, which can often be well over people’s actual usage, leaving them short of their own money while energy companies often delay in sending rebates.
“The NEA’s Warm Homes campaign is there to help people get advice about energy efficiency improvements they can make to their properties, as well as checking if they are eligible to claim benefits and support with their energy costs.
“I encourage all constituents on Ynys Môn to contact their energy providers to find out more about getting a smart meter installed in their homes.”
