MP Supports Bangor University Nursing Society’s ‘Presents for Patients’ drive

Ynys Mon MP Albert Owen joined nursing students at the School of Health Sciences in Bangor to donate and support the ‘Presents for Patients’ drive, organised by nursing students.

Two years ago it was noticed that many patients in hospital over the Christmas period did not receive any gifts.

Albert Owen said,

“This is an excellent scheme by the Nursing Society who make up gift boxes filled with presents to try to bring a little joy at the festive season to those who are in hospital across North Wales from Ysbyty Penrhos to Wrexham Maelor.”

“I am told that last year over 120 boxes were delivered and this year with the support of local businesses and the general public, they are hoping to deliver over 200.”

“I was pleased to be able to join the student nurses and make a donation from my constituency office.”

“Being in hospital at Christmas can be a difficult time so these gifts to patients will make a real difference.”

“I would like to thank Amy Hughes and the team of the Bangor University Society for their kindness and hard work in organising this special event.”
