End of Year Report

End of Year Report

I extend Season’s Greetings and Best Wishes for 2019. 2018 was a very busy year. In Parliament the business has been dominated by Brexit.

The Prime Minister’s deal on EU withdrawal and future arrangements has managed to unite her right-wingers, the opposition parties and the DUP against her proposal, which frankly is a fudge and weakens the UK and is not in the country’s interest.

I have stuck to my 2017 General Election pledge for a sensible Brexit. The country remains fractured and Parliament is in gridlock, therefore I believe we must look at all options; including extending the March deadline or a Public (People’s) Vote and not just the binary choice of Mrs. May’s deal or no deal.

In the constituency my office has helped and supported residents across the island. I have campaigned and worked with others and thank them for their co-operation.

2018 was the 70th anniversary of the NHS. The values of the NHS are important to me and I pay tribute to the staff of our public and emergency services, carers and the volunteers who enrich our community. It was also the centenary of the end of WW1 and we showed respect and strive for peace.

I look forward to a challenging 2019 and hope it is a peaceful one for you and your family.

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.
